Training for Boston in Boston…

Need training at a location of your choice ? We can arrange to have classroom activities scheduled at your facility or ours. Contact us with your requirements.

The Boston Police Department has set a new standard for security
officers that seek limited police powers in the City of Boston.

After July 1, 1996 all candidates wishing to be appointed Special
Officers by the Boston Police Department and acquiring powers
of arrest will be required to have attended a prescribed course
of training and pass a written test approved by the Police Commissioner.

Prior to taking the test for Special Officer, all candidates
must provide written documentation of prior training from an acceptable academy which will be verified before the day of the test. The William Cloran Academy has been accepted to provide the training and certification.

The required training will be in two categories:
Unarmed (100 hours of training)

and an additional

Armed (60 hours of training)

NOTE: A unique opportunity for
Supervisors and other officers to attend the academy, not just
City of Boston Special Officer candidates.

Classes are in four hour blocks, eight hour days.
